The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six- week timeframe using a standard “kit of parts,” additional materials, and a common set of rules. Teams design and build robots and enter them in a series of competitions designed by engineering professionals. The competition has grown to include over 4,000 teams from across the world competing in many Regional Events, and a National Championship Event.

Since 1993, Assabet Valley has competed regionally and nationally in FIRST Robotics, providing students and mentors the opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other. Many of our mentors participated in the program as students and have since returned to encourage the next generation.

We will be participating in the BAE Manchester Regional March 1-3 and the Boston Regional event March 22-24. To learn more about FIRST, please visit their web site.
